Aptia, a leading provider of pension administration, consultancy, and actuarial services, has appointed Darren Brame as Global Head of Corporate Finance. 

Darren brings deep industry knowledge and strategic insight to his new position, having served as Chief Commercial & Risk Officer for Aptia since its inception in January 2024, He has more than 25 years of financial expertise - including senior roles at Mercer and JLT Employee Benefits, and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and the Chartered Institute of Credit Management. 

Aptia, a leading provider of pension administration, consultancy and actuarial services, has appointed former Pensions Minister, Guy Opperman, as Strategic Adviser. 

Guy, who is the UK’s longest serving Pensions and Financial Inclusion Minister, will support Aptia’s growth plans in both administration and consulting and desire to improve outcomes for members and policyholders. He will particularly support Aptia in its focus on proposition, LGPS and ambitions to be at the forefront of Collective Defined Contribution (CDC) pensions as they develop. 

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has launched a consultation aimed at raising standards in pension scheme trusteeship, governance, and administration.

Commenting on the announcement that the government plans to consult on CDC expansion, Malcolm Reynolds, Aptia's UK President, said: “CDC has the potential to improve member outcomes by as much as 30% or more and creates an opportunity to address pensions inadequacy through scheme design rather than simply mandating increased contributions at a time when many employers and individuals can ill afford it.
